Poetry is a passion in life. It is what I use to express how I see the world and something that I just love to do. Here are some of my poems. Enjoy:)

Haphazardly
Yes, that's my heart on the table.
It's bruised
battered
broken
Haphazardly held together with duct tape and zip ties.
You want to fix it?
HA! I've heard that line so many times now.
And you know what?
No one ever has. They just cause more damage in the effort.
So guess what?
I'll just do it myself this time.
I know what it's supposed to look like,
I'll put it back together.
I don't need your help.

A poem about taking things into your own hands. Enjoy:)

The Science of Heartbreak
It's human nature.
We long for another.
Being alone isn't natural.
It's our chemical make up.
It's the science of it.
It's the science of heartbreak.
Bonds are formed, and broken.
But without these bonds the atoms we are made of would cease to exist.
Broken. Broken too easily.
Tears are a chemical reaction
To a broken heart.
The pain is really here.
But that's known.
It's the science of all of it.

So the song "The Scientist" by Coldplay has been stuck in my head since last week's episode of Glee. And I decided to write whilst listening to it. This was the result. Enjoy:)

THE QUEEN OF SNAKES
Do you enjoy being
The Queen Of Snakes?
Hissing rumors into people's ears
Stealthily spying on everyone's every move
Lying to seek revenge.
I know I'd never enjoy that title
THE QUEEN OF SNAKES
What you have done to me
Is especially snakelike
I am going to ask you once and for all
STOP
I think I'm "punished" enough
For what you are saying I did...
You lie, Your Majesty.
Her highness, The Queen Of Snakes
*****************************************************************************
I was talking to one of my friends and she said "Why do girls have to be so catty?" I originally wrote this as "The Queen of Cats", but after finishing it changed to snakes because I realized that was the animal I had described more. I hope you like it! Enjoy:)

Scars and Sparkles
I'm covered in scars...
From injuries over the years.
A sliver in my leg
A scratch that didn't heal correctly
An accident that cut my eyebrow
But today i'm also covered in sparkles.
Sparkles that illuminate my skin.
Sparkles that show a joy found in all my scars.
Because sparkles are happy.
I've survived all my injuries, all my scars.
Both inside and out.
So today I'm wearing scars and sparkles.
Showing who I am.
Scars and Sparkles

I don't know how to describe this poem... Enjoy:)

Count My Lucky Stars
What do the stars look like?
Like little diamonds painting a dark sky.
Like Thousands of eyes gleaming down.
Like spotlights pouring down on every human being.
Like... Like nothing of this earth.
They are not of this earth.
They are the stars...
Count my lucky stars...
Because I must have thousands to have you.
********************************************************************
I was stargazing and the stars are some of the most beautiful things in the universe. So here's a cute little love poem about them. Enjoy:)

Oxymoron
Love is joy
Love is pleasure
Love is two as one
Love is never wanting to hurt each other
Love is sorrowful
Love is misery
Love is breaking of hearts
Love is being hurt though you may not want it
Love is an oxymoron.
Is it still worth it?
*********************************************************************
So I love oxymorons... Simple as that. And I think this is one of the biggest oxymorons in the world. So I wrote a poem about it. Enjoy:)

Sweet Pea
What is it about nature?
When I'm out there...
I feel so comfortable.
Just walking through it's beauty...
Admiring the wild flowers.
Especially the sweet pea.
That's my favorite.
Then there's you in the mix of this all.
You make the day go by so fast
Too fast.
I wish I could slow it all down and take it all in.
Because nature has so much to take in.
I've fallen farther in nature again.
What is it about nature?
********************************************************
Nature is one of my strongest muses. No doubt in my mind about that. It's just so beautiful. I hope you enjoy this poem! It's short, sweet, and simple. Enjoy:)

I Won't Give Up
I won't give up.
I won't give up the feeling
When we are together
I won't give up the way
You make my heart flutter
I won't give up the words
Of never ending encouragement
I won't give up the way
You see my flaws and still stay
I won't give up the light
That you bring with your smile
I won't give up the simpleness
In the way you show how you care
I won't give up how easy
You make it to care
I won't ever give up
Trying to make you realize how I feel about you
Because I want to make you feel as special as you make me feel
You deserve to be happy, my dear.
So let's hold on to us while we can.
Because I won't give up on us.
*********************************************************************************
So I was listening to the song "I Won't Give Up" by Jason Mraz which is one of my favorite songs of all time and I decided to write a poem with the title. It's a beautiful song! Enjoy:)

Sunlight's Hope
Your welcoming arms outstretched
Before the warmth
Of your beautiful smile
The first light after a dark cold night
Your warmth penetrates the souls
Of the mourning
And the heartbroken
Chasing away darkness with your glow
Your arms envelop the pain
And sorrow; giving freely
Hope and comfort
The forgotten darkness now filled with sunlight
The nightmare now flees from
Your powerful,
Gentle embrace
Replacing hearts of fear with hearts of faith
Oh Glorious One! Oh Hopeful One!
Your joyful rays
Now gleam around us
Bringing gladness to such a worried world
I will not hide
From loved dawning light
And new hope it will bring
A hope and comfort needed by all that breathe

I wrote this as a sophomore in high school. It was this poem that made me realize I loved writing poetry and maybe I was actually good at it. I always is a powerful one to go back and read and still am proud of it. Enjoy:)

That Boy
There's that boy...
The one who's smile is contagious
The one who's laugh is infectious
The one who holds on close and tight
The one who takes away pain
The one who is wonderful
The one who is so much more than he ever could seem
There's that boy...
There's my boy...
*********************************************************************************
So I wrote this awhile back. I think it's one of the cutest poems I've written! I can't help but smile every time I read it. I hope it makes you smile as well. Enjoy:)
